Another weekend has came and gone, and my kids are on the countdown to Spring Break 2017! {How in the world is it already time for Spring Break?} The remind me like every 7 seconds.
Friday.
+Friday afternoon was spent cleaning and organizing. I brought out all of my old Scentsy to get ready to sell. {Found this old picture of Adam & I, we look like babies!!!}
+Friday evening, Adam had practice at the Lodge {he is a Mason} so the kids & I just played with the puppy and ate leftovers. It was an early night to bed. {I am afraid Anna is getting mighty comfy being a inside dog! lol}
Saturday.
+Saturday morning we were up and at 'em! Anna {the puppy} knocked over the water bowl in Kullen's room at like 8am sharp. So, there I was mopping and cleaning before I had even had my first cup of coffee. #mombie
I decided it would be a good time to purge Kullen's closet, and the after result we were both happy with! He had accumulated so many things over the years! It was way overdue for a cleaning. He said it made him feel better having the clutter gone.
The weather was beautiful so both kids were outside from about 9am until noon. Reagan picked me flowers. {She has such a kind heart!}
The kids left around noon for the Mardi Gras Parade with their Gomaw. I continued to clean house most of the day.
Adam began on the back porch/deck to get the back yard prepped for two dogs to live in!
Saturday evening, I jammed to Chris Cagle, Gary Alan & Jason Abbott etc. and we grilled steaks & baked potatoes and I made cheddar broccoli salad.
Sunday.
+Sunday Adam continued his work on the porch, the kids and I had game day-there was a mean game of Farkle going on. We had so many laughs.
Sunday evening, I made Chicken bacon ranch pinwheels for the kids lunches {I plan on making a post here in the near future because the babies were a HIT!}, caught up on my Youtube channels- {Where I found out The Michalak's that I have mentioned before, are expecting! YAY! #michalakpartyof4 - Hannah has had a rough time lately, so I am excited to see her get her rainbow baby!} I had my grapefruit & lavender essential oils diffusing {this may be my fav combo so far} and cleaning blend...which I love as well.
We ended the weekend relaxed and ready for the week!
++++I have had several of you guys message me about essential oils and a few of you inquire via my Intsagram. I am by far no video girl, but would you guys be interested in a video explaining? It is a hard topic to just "write" about.....I would rather show you guys. I'll probably look hot mess express and be super awkward, because, well that's me, but I would do it for you all if enough showed interest! Lemme know, Mermaids!
Happy week!
These are my confessions!

/ that I feel immense blogger's guilt over the fact that I did not write a weekend post about this past weekend. I did not feel my best-actually, I felt like poop on a stick. After two shots in the rear and a Zpak, I am pleased to announce I am back in the game of life.
/ that although I am a fall/winter girl, I have been loving the weather lately. I seriously can not wait to begin working in my yard and revive my flower beds.
/ that I am such a sucker for animals. Months back, {well almost a year now} my husband rescued a dog. He is now huge and sheds like no other. We are planning on putting him in the backyard, but {me being the softy I am} I thought he needed a playmate and companion because I didn't want him to be lonely. Welp, we rescued another dog, Annabelle aka Anna. Both dogs will be going out as soon as we get our back porch completed. I know they will truly be happier out there where they are free to run and play! Needless to say, between being sick and the new dog- it has been a total zoo around our neck of the woods. #dogtoddler
/ that I could eat this dish like 3 times a week. Feta chicken, get in my bellah.
it is simply grilled chicken with shredded mild cheddar cheese, feta cheese, bacon bits & chopped green onions. Goes well on a salad too!
/ that I also made this Chicken Chili Taco recipe from Shay over at Mix and Match Mama {here} and it is wonderful. My niece, Bethany told me a recipe super similar and I have been addicted ever since. #noshame
/ that I have recently began playing Bunco {as a fill in} and I love it! They asked me to join their group and I couldn't be more excited. I literally smile from ear to ear the entire time. {Hey-some of those ladies are quick and good at it!}
/ that I recently threw away a entire package of opened lunch meat after only eating like two slices-I kid you not. I have this thing about only using packaged lunch meat only once. If it doesn't get all eaten up in one sitting, in the trash it goes. If Adam happens to talk me into keeping it and he makes sandwiches for an entire month out of it - you can just about doggone bet this girl did not touch it. {uuurrrp! I know it is wasting but bllleeekkk. It makes me green around the gills.}
/ that the kids and I have planned a stay-at-home PJ party game day and I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Saturday!
Happy Friday you Mermaids!
These are my confessions!

I found myself daydreaming the other day- reminiscing about my all time favorite blogger, Leslie Sisti @ a blonde ambition blog. God rest her soul. Leslie passed away summer of 2015. I miss reading her posts. I remembered I admired her confessions and the linkup of Confessional Friday. While, I wont be in any link up, I think I am going to start doing some confessions on Friday in her honor and call my posts, These are my confessions!
{Did any one else read that blog title and immediately start singing Confessions Pt. 2 by Usher??- No? Just me? I sing it every. single. time.}
that I love the Kid's Baking Championship tv show on Food Network. If you would have told me my new fav TV show would be Kid's Baking, I would have told you that you were crazy. Guess what? It's my new favorite, and I am not even a really big TV person lately. Reagan introduced me to this while she was home sick from school. Kullen, Reagan & I watched every episode on the Food Network app on our firestick. It is so neat to see what these kids create and goodgollygee I just love the hosts, Duff Goldman and Valerie Bertinelli. I think watching these kids her age cook and bake is sparking Reagan to become more confident in her baking skills. I do believe she may have found a new hobby.
that I got my new oils in and Dun. dun. dun..............I LOVE THEM! I used my photography earnings and I ended up going with Eden's Garden Oils. They are still a 100% therapeutic grade oil, there is no multi-marketing mumbo jumbo, they have kid blends in the formulas I need for my kiddos and the price point better suited my budget. (Nothing against those companies at all, just weren't for me at this time, although there are a few YL blends I would like to try) I ordered two diffusers this one and this one from Amazon.com and the oils directly from the company.https://www.edensgarden.com Saved a ton by doing this! I'd say my total in all was under $100. It is too early to really give a good review, but Ill keep you guys posted on my thoughts. I will more than likely do an entire post on them, unboxing and review and whatnot. I will say this.....I am definitely saving money in the long run, I switched out my scentsy scents twice a week, and I had about 6 pots burning 24/7 in my house. That was atleast $10/week. Whaaa thaaa? Ain't nobody got time for that.
{soooo, if you are local and you love Scentsy products, I will be selling all my gear at a very reduced rate -my warmers, bars & etc items- hit me up if you are interested. I'd hate to just chunk them out}
that I have been facebook free for a week! Darnit, it feels so good. Facebook was too much information for me. The only way I can describe my experience with FB is it made my brain have too many tabs open all at once. Overloaded and overwhelmed at times. I loved sharing my kids and life on there but I didn't love the negativity. I could have just stayed off but as long as I had an account I would find myself mindlessly clicking on the app and browsing around. That is totally my fault, I get it. Deleting was what worked best for me. I am happy to report, life has been so much better without it.
that my love language is makeup and I got lots of it this week. I had lunch with my favorite Aunt this week. We didn't get to meet up for my birthday because I was so busy with work and all. She is always so good to me. Really she is. She has a heart of gold. She always thinks of me and puts a lot of thoughts in her gifts. {not just for me, for everyone.} She got me all kinds of goodies that make me smile!! Including a Tarte and Two-faced eye shadow palettes. annnnd. YSL perfume {you need this in your life. It is like sunshine in a bottle!} and other little thoughtful, happies like this magazine!
that I am so looking forward to the long weekend. Cheers! to the freaking weekend! a long one at that. A weekend has never been needed more. This week has been one for the birds. Both kids were sick, and now they have passed their germs to me. I am sicker than a dog...... This momma plans to relax, catch up on sleep, begin feeling better and maybe, just maybe get her house back in order? No bets on that last one.
Even though the crud made its way to our house for Valentine's day, Adam brought home some beautiful flowers & Pizza Hut. Nothing quite says "I love you" like Pizza Hut, right? I love my guy! |
What do you guys have planned this weekend?
Have a groovy weekend, Mermaids!
Weekend Shenanigans
Monday, February 13, 2017
They say a picture speaks a thousands words and from the looks of most of my snaps from this past weekend, there was a whole lot of nothing going on. That's just how we like it too! We threw on our PJ's and snagged up our favorite blanket and vegged on the couch every chance we got. {This homebody was in heaven!}
Friday:
Fridays temperature was no doubt shorts & bike riding approved! All afternoon we played outside. {Kullen played playstation, imagine that!}
Saturday:
Saturday morning, Kullen & Reagan left with their Gomaw to attend their little cousin, Keaton's 4th birthday party. I had a first birthday photography session and grocery shopping to fill my entire day. Reagan refuses to stay the night with anyone these days {I don't mind, she is my little sidekick} so she was back with me Saturday evening while Kullen stayed at his Gomaw's house.
Saturday evening was lazzzzy {with some sprinkled in photo editing going on} and we were all in bed by 9pm. #partyanimals
Sunday:
Sunday morning we headed off to church. Its a good thing I have my husband because he encourages us to go to church. If we miss it is totally my fault usually. Sunday's I tend to want to lay around allllll day and I tend make entirely a lot of excuses to not go to church. It is not that I don't love our church, but we go go go go alllll week so on Sunday when I don't have plans I just want to lay around and not put on a stitch of makeup. I know this is wrong of me - if I have enough energy to go go go go all week then why should I not put forth the energy for the Lord to get fed with his word and replenished for the next week!!!??? I am working on this. We are all not perfect and this is one of the many areas I fall short in. You know what is crazy about it? I always do feel better when I go....
Sunday afternoon we ate lunch and I was pretty much was worthless until about 6pm. I had a straight up Fixer Upper marathon going on.
Kullen finally arrived home, and he was {and is} extremely sick with a cold or whatnot.
I am posting late because the school nurse called yesterday {Monday} to say Reagan had a temperature. Needless to say, I spent my evening making homemade chicken and rice soup and cleaning every crevice of our house.
Hope you all have a wonderful week, looks like Ill be spending my week with Lysol & bleach in my hand. Off to the doctor we go!
Five things on Friday!
Thursday, February 9, 2017
one. flashback friday. I got to looking through my blog the other night and got a little emotional looking at how much my kids have grown. I had always heard old timers say that children grow quickly but sort of brushed that mess off thinking it wouldn't happen to my children. My children wouldn't grow fast, right? Wrong. When asked, I give two pieces of advice for new parents. 1.) Read to and with your children...often. 2.) Don't blink, babies grow up so fast, cherish every moment.
If my Mother were still here with me, she would have celebrated her 50th birthday this past Monday. When I told people she would have been 50 their facial expressions were nothing less than pure confusion. "She is so young", they would say.
Why yes, yes she was.
"She must have had you when she was young",
well, yes - yes she was very young.
Shortly after her diagnosis with Cancer, I received a card in the mail {I had to live with my Dad} from my momma for Easter {that I still have to this day}, her words were {along with some other things} "Each moment is already planned". Such simple words to my little 8 year old mind, yet so bold as I read those same words at 34. I understand that it was no mistake her having me young, it was no mistake for her to leave the world early either.
I also get the question of, "How do you deal with not having your mother?"
Well, some days are worse than others, I'd be lying if I didn't say it doesn't affect me. It surely does. I've had to have counseling and I've talked to my preacher. {Grief is a funny thing, I tell ya.[Said while shaking my head]}
But I remember and cling to this:
Ecclesiastes 3:1
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
which means to me,
Everything happens for a reason.
& my Momma knows best.............with her words.
Each moment is already planned.
three. recipes. Guys. game changer here. I absolutely love www.uprootkitchen.com; I can find so many healthy recipes there. What drew me in was each month a seasonal produce list is posted to see what is in season. This has helped me so much. Call me silly, but I knew when some veggies were in season, but some...I had no clue. Another recipe source I love {and I also love to keep up with the Shull Family-how fun are they??} is www.mixandmatchmama.com. Shay has her own cookbooks and I just love the variety of recipe ideas she has. When I look at her recipes it gets me motivated to cook! {That's a good thing! This momma can get in a no cooking rut, quick}

four. hope floats. Oh, take me back to 1998 please. I just recently watched this movie for the gazillionth time and it never gets old. Harry Connick, Jr makes my heart flutter every. single. time. {sorry, Adam!} Everyone needs a Justin Matisse in their lives. I'd dance with him! :) If you haven't seen it, it would be the perfect Valentine date night movie, just saying!
my favorite quote of all time-
"Dancing is just a conversation between two people, talk to me."-Justin Matisse, Hope Floats
five. valentines day. In honor of upcoming Valentine's day, I have been leaving little love notes for Adam, Kullen & Reagan leading up to the big day. Adam has been getting his at night, hidden is random various places. Kullen has been waking up to his notes each day. {Because notes in his lunchbox are not cool he says} Reagan has been getting her little love notes in her lunch box each day. I was just trying to come up with an inexpensive, cool way to say I love you in honor of the fast approaching holiday. Seriously, wasn't it just Christmas?
{This one was supposed to say Day 6, oops!}
Adam has been getting a kick out of all these little notes! |
