ALONE AT THE PLATE

[Inside the front cover of the book, You Can

Teach Hitting, by Dusty Baker]

He pulls on a helmet, picks up the bat,

and walks to the plate, “gotta hit and that’s that.”

The crowd starts to yell, the game’s on the line,

last inning, two outs, the score’s nine to nine.

Dad yells, “Go get it,” Mom wrings her hands,

Coach hollers, “hit it,” but alone there he stands.

Heros are made in seconds such as this,

but he’s just a little boy, what if he should miss ??

Years after the game’s ended and he’s little no more,

will he remember the outcome or even the score ??

No he’ll have forgotten if he was out, hit or a run,

he’ll only look back on his friends and the fun.

So cheer this boy on, alone with his fate,

help him remember with fondness this stand at the plate.

Spend your time wisely and help in his quest

to be a hitter with confidence and always do his best.

And when the game’s over, this boy can stand tall,

for you’ve helped him prepare to give it his all!!

Happy almost Birthday!

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Wow, I almost have a four year old daughter. My, does that phrase feel funny to say- four year old daughter. Four year old daughter. … I think this will take a little getting use to.

The problem with having a four year old daughter is that I still remember her birth as though it happened yesterday. It doesn't feel right to think that four whole years have passed, that my little tiny bundle of milky white skin and a bald head has turned into a little golden girl with brown eyes and a bright smile. But she has... my baby has become a big girl.

Reagan's fourth birthday has been a much anticipated event in our home. She is finally at the age where she understands the excitement of birthdays and she has been looking forward to her birthday for months. We have a full day of fourth birthday fun planned and of course, a Cinderella themed birthday happening in March.

Reagan is my side kick, my best buddy, and we have so much fun together. She has become such a little character, with so much personality and spunk. She tells funny stories and asks me how my day is going. She wants to know why I feel sad and how she can help me be happy. She helps with everything and tries to pitch in around the house. That little girl absolutely makes my world go round.

She keeps me young with rousing games of restaurant or baby dolls. She keeps me sharp with her inquisitive questions. She makes me laugh when she comes out of her bedroom, proud as can be that she dressed herself, even though her clothing combinations are atrocious. I love it when she tries to reason with me and it melts my heart when she tells me that she wants to be just like me.

While it can be hard to accept the fact that my Reagie Bear is no longer my baby, and has instead grown into my four year old daughter, I have to say that I am loving it. Each day she surprises me with the things she knows. She makes life interesting and fun and she definitely keeps me on my toes. I am excited to celebrate her fourth birthday soon.

Happy almost Birthday Baby girl! You light up my life!

Snow in East Texas~

Saturday, February 18, 2012

We have had a very mild winter..it did snow the other day. Dont worry, Reagan was sick anyways so I stayed at home. It was all melted by the end of the day! What, errh, isnt suppose to stick around a few days if it is going to fall? LOL

Valentines Day 2012

We had a very low key day of love at our house. Reagan was still a little sick..she had a cold. We took these pictures before she got sick and before it snowed!! It snowed the day before Valentines day.
This shot was taken on actual V-day before School and daycare! They are growing so fast.
